Disney's Magic Kingdom
Let's make a start on this magical filled journey we are about to embark on, this blog is me telling you what to do and what not to do at some of the major theme parks in Orlando Florida.
I think the only proper way to start this is to talk about everyone's favourite park Disney's Magic Kingdom. From what I know I believe it is the oldest park in the Disney land area.
Step One- Arrival
If you are planning on driving to the park then their is as always with parking a small fee to pay. If you are not in the disabled parking or preferred parking then you may want to consider taking a disney transport tram bus to the entrance. There are two different ways to get to the park, there is a monorail system, upon arrival you need to go on the monorail for Magic Kingdom as there is two other Monorails one for resorts and the other for Epcot. Also you could get the ferry boat across to the park. Both are much of a muchness really.
As with all theme parks you have to go through a security check and finger print check.
You will arrive at Main Street, I personally didn't do anything there but their is plenty of food and shopping places and in the theatre you can meet both Tinker Bell and Mickey Mouse.
Let's start with the individual parks now they aren't as big as a normal park but they are themed sections if you will, there are 4 different sections Tomorrowland which is a futuristic themed area, Frontier land which is as the name suggests it is a wild west themed land, Adventure land is a jungle/ pirate themed land and Fantasy Land which is fairytale themed.
Now I am going to list the must do Rides and or Shows in each part of the park.
Tomorrowland
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin
On this ride you will be in a pod type thing and you have a laser gun type thing attached to the pod and you have to shoot the Z targets on each of the aliens to gain points. This ride is a great one for the whole family as you can see who gets the best score, I have to say this ride is a firm favourite of mine.
Peoplemover
This ride is really relaxing and very interesting as you are in this carriage as part of a train tram type of a deal and you go all around the Tomorrowland park and you learn about the different things to do inside this part of the park, also you can see a backstage type of a view of both Buzz Lightyear Alien Attack and Space Mountain.
Monsters INC The Laugh Floor
This is show for the whole family as Mike and a few of his friends are trying to fill up the energy tank with your laughs, they do this by having various acts come on and do something funny. If you like having a good old laugh or just want to have light hearted fun this show is a must see.
TomorrowLand Speedway
On this ride you will be driving a car around a speedway track. This ride is great fun for the whole family you can drive a car alone or have a passenger with you, the cars seats 2 people. This is one of the slightly older rides at Disney and one that might be classed as dated but it is still one of my all time favourites.
Frontier land
Haunted Mansion
On this ride you are in a pod taking a trip in a Haunted House. Warning this ride might be slightly scary for younger kids as it has spooky music and some ghost like characters. What I like to do on this ride is try and scare the person I am sitting next to,so maybe you can give it a try.
Splash Mountain
Have you ever wondered where the song Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah came from? Well this is the ride. You are in a roller coaster type vehicle as you journey through this disney film but along the way there are a few medium sized drops. Warning you may get wet on this ride as it is as the name would suggest a water ride.
Adventure land
Magic Carpets
This ride is based on the film Aladdin. You are in your own magic carpet, the carpet seats four both the back and front seats have a leaver that controls the magic carpet, the first leaver at the front of the carpet makes the carpet go up and down. The second leaver at the back of the carpet makes the carpet tilt forwards and backwards. Just a quickie the leaver at the back is in the front of the back two seats. You may get a bit wet as there is a camel that squirts water every now and again.
Pirates Of The Caribbean
One this ride you are in a boat going through one of the Pirates Of The Caribbean films. There is one minor drop towards the beginning of the ride. This ride impressed me with the people in the sets as they looked so lifelike especially Captain Jack.
Fantasy Land
Under The Sea With The Little Mermaid
One This Ride you are in a shell type pod and you take a journey through the Little Mermaid film. This is a great ride for all the family.
It's A Small World
This is a very famous ride and one of the originals at the Magic Kingdom. This ride is based on a song called It's A Small World, you are in a boat travelling through different continents and the countries within these continents and as you go around you hear the kids sing the It's A Small World song,I think some of them sing it in their native language.
Seven Dwarf Mine Train
This ride is a family coaster and is a great roller coaster for someone who does not like them but still wants to ride on one. You are in a mine train cart as you ride this sort of fast roller coaster there is also some animatronics of the Dwarfs,Snow White and the Witch in the ride as you ride through.
Winnie The Pooh
On this ride you will be inside a honey pot as you adventure through a Winnie The Pooh story also they make it more original but adding in some bouncing through out. This is a great ride for the kids and anyone who likes gentle rides.
Dumbo The Flying Elephant
On this ride you are in your own Dumbo and you have a leaver at the front of the Dumbo that makes it go up and down. The Dumbo seats 2 people. This ride gives you great views of the Magic Kingdom park.
Also along with the many rides, shops and places to eat there are parades and evening fireworks. There is a parade in the afternoon which I cannot remember the name of but it stars your favourite princesses, cartoon favourites such as Peter Pan and as with any Disney parade Mickey and friends. The evening parade is all lit up as all the parade floats and character costumes are covered in coloured lights, this parade features the same types of people as the afternoon parade. Both parades at the Magic Kingdom are worth watching. Magic Kingdoms Wishes fireworks as also worth the watch but they are not the best fireworks at Disney but I still think they are worth watching.
What Rides Are Worthy Of A Fast Pass ?
As with all the Disney parks their rides and shows have fast passes which you can book online via the app.You are aloud 3 fast passes for each day but the app explains it in more detail.
Out of all of the rides and shows I think are worth doing/going on ,only 2 possibly 3 are ones you should get a fast pass for. The first one is Seven Dwarf Mine Train this is the best ride in Magic Kingdom and most likely the one with the longest wait time, someone I spoke to said they have seen the wait time for this ride go up to 200 minutes so if you can get a fast pass for this attraction. Another one worth the fast pass is Buzz Lightyear Alien Attack this ride typically has around 40 to 50 minute wait time but I still think you should fast pass this ride as it is a great ride for the whole family. Also another that I personally would not fast pass but it typically has 40 to 60 minute wait times is TomorrowLand Speedway so for that reason alone you might want to use a fast pass for this attraction.
What Not To Do?
Advice that some of you may take the hard way do not wait in a queue that is over 90 minutes long as the wait time will only increase instead why not go on a ride that is a 5-20 minute wait and come back to the other later.
There are some rides that really could be missed and I will explain why. Ride 1 is Peter Pan's Flight normally I would like this ride as I have done it several times in Disney Land Paris but there are more parks in Disney Land Florida so I makes rides like this seem dated several others that are dated are Mad Hatters Tea Party, The Cinderella Carousel and Space Mountain.
There are some rides at Magic Kingdom that are not at the Paris theme park but really are just bad one for me that really sticks out is the Jungle River Cruse in Adventure Land the animatronics are just poor and although your guide is a friendly person their jokes that they tell are really bad so bad you laugh at them for completely the wrong reason.
That has been Disney's Magic Kingdom told my way, next time we will be exploring Disney's Hollywood Studios.
