Riverdale Season 4- Episodes 1-14

In this post, I will be discussing, reviewing and giving my thoughts and theories on this season’s storyline of Jughead being dead or missing or whether the hell happened to him. I have watched the other 3 seasons and I think links can be made back to season 2 not with the black hood storyline necessarily but links can be made to events that happened during season 2 which the showrunner has confirmed will be answered by the end of season 4 this includes the letter FP had in his hand during the Carrie musical episode.

Firstly let's discuss the episodes now I think all so far link to the Jughead storyline bar possibly 2 for obvious reasons episode 1 does not link as it was a stand-alone episode dealing with the death of Fred Andrews and Luke Perry. I also am undecided on whether episode 8 links to the Jughead storyline or whether it was just a stand-alone therapy episode which seems the most likely.

Season 4 Episode 1 In Memoriam

Synopsis- A Farewell To Fred Andrews- As the residence of Riverdale prepare for its upcoming Independence Day parade, Archie receives a phone call that will change the rest of his life forever

Review- I really liked this episode for what it was intended to be. It was a fitting tribute to Luke Perry and Fred Andrews. I liked how it linked the actor to the character with the use of his 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty.

Season 4 Episode 2 Fast Times At Riverdale High

Synopsis- First Day Of Senior Year- Archie encourages Mad Dog to attend Riverdale High and join the football team. Jughead meets Mr. Chipping, who offers him a spot at an elite school call Stonewall Prep. Veronica is conflicted when information about her involvement in Hiram’s arrest leaks to the public. Kevin applies for a spot on the Blue and Gold to make amends with Betty. And Cheryl goes head to head with Mr, Honey, the school’s new principal

Theories- I think the whole Jughead storyline could have originated here however I have two other episodes in mind also, but I will explain those later on. Firstly this is where he is scouted for Stonewall Prep after Mr. Chipping read his short story, I reckon Mr. Chipping has noticed the name on the submission and linked it back to Jughead’s grandfather Forsyth the First, however, I do not think he is responsible for Jughead’s murder, missing situation as spoiler alert Mr. Chipping commits suicide but more on that later. I think Mr. Chipping knew about the whole Baxter Brothers stuff along with the Quill and Skull society stuff and wanted to bring it to ahead. This is me scraping the barrel to a certain degree but who knows.

Review- I really enjoyed this episode as I am a Bughead stan and this episode produced the goods. I liked the episode for three reasons the Bughead scenes, Jughead’s writing finally getting the recognition it deserves and the Reggie taking down his abusive father storyline.

Rating (out of 5)- 5/5

Season 4 Episode 3 Dog Days Afternoon

Synopsis- Betty and Charles Confront Edgar Evernever- Things take a dangerous turn when Betty and Charles track down Edgar and his Farmies. Archie and Veronica hold a car wash fundraiser at Pops’ to raise money for the community centre. Elsewhere Jughead’s first day at Stonewall Prep doesn’t go as planned. Lastly, Cheryl learns a dark family secret from Nana Rose.

Theories- I think this is the most likely place for the Jughead storyline to begin as the preppies are getting to know Jughead so they are starting to figure out about what makes him tick. Also, we first get properly introduced to Donna and Brett in this episode and it was made clear by Donna that Jughead should watch his back around Brett and it was spoiler alert later discovered that Brett has a sex tape of Moose and Moose was seen having sex with Donna in this episode.

Review- This is one of my least favourite episodes of season 4 so far. I just couldn’t care for it however I was glad to see the end of Edgar and I really enjoyed the badass Alice and Betty moments. Besides this, I was not a fan of this episode. It did produce some Bughead goods but nothing that snatched my wig.

Season 4 Episode 4 Halloween

Synopsis- Halloween In Riverdale— When ominous videotapes begin appearing on doorsteps across Riverdale, widespread fear quickly returns to the town. At Stonewall Prep, Jughead learns about a series of mysterious disappearances that have occurred to former students at the school. Meanwhile, Archie’s plan to create a safe space for the town’s kids gets derailed when some unwanted visitors crash their Halloween party. Elsewhere, Veronica comes face to face with trouble, while Betty’s past comes back to haunt her. Lastly, a haunting at Thistlehouse rocks Cheryl and Toni to their core.

Theories- This episode was good theory wise for several reasons as it helps support later episodes as I strongly believe that major theory or storylines could have originated here. Firstly, let’s start with the fact the Jughead was buried alive by the preppies and was later rescued by Mr. Chipping. In this episode they mention the Stonewall 4 story about how 4 students at the school went missing and the preppies lead Jughead to believe that the story is true and I think Mr. Chipping says it was either true or a myth, it has been a while since I rewatched this episode so apologies. I believe that the preppies Bret, Donna, Joan, and Johnathan are the modern-day Stonewall 4 but they won’t go missing it just makes sense 4 and 4. Now a huge theory came to light after the flash-forward at the end of episode 5 surrounding an Archie Comics character called Souphead (yes I know bear with me here) he is Jughead’s identical twin cousin who is evil now as you will remember Jughead was rendered unconscious due to drug put into a coffee made for him by Donna (who is crucial later on down the line) I think that she put Jughead into a Locked Room which is the name for episode 16 and where Jughead comes back from the dead? So did Souphead go into the coffin and get swapped over with Jughead, now I am not suggesting that Donna drugged Souphead it might be likely but I don’t think that’s the case I think he was kidnapped by the Stonewall 4 put into a Locked Room and swapped places with Jughead after Jughead was drugged by Donna. In order for this to be believable, the Stonewall 4 would have to let Souphead know about Jughead’s life, family, friends, etc. Which would make the unofficial synopsis from IMDB for episode 16 make sense with the Betty, Archie and Veronica’s worry relating to Jughead make sense. I also think (I know what a lengthy theory, this inspired the post FYI) this links to a scene in the Carrie musical episode from season 2 this is relating to the note FP was I think going to give Alice before the show but he saw her with her now-dead ex-husband Hal and left the scene without giving her the note or letter. The showrunner has confirmed on his social media that we will find out what was in this letter or note by the end of season 4.

Review- I liked this episode it is in my top 5 and I was happy to finally see a Halloween themed episode. I was a fan of both Toni and Cheryl’s costumes as well as the nod to the comics having Archie dressed as pure heart the powerful. I thought these sets of episodes really helped to further develop Mad Dog’s character which was good to see. I overall liked this episode and I liked how it finally got the theory ball rolling as well as being a good themed episode.

Season 4 Episode 5 Witness for The Prosecution

Synopsis- The Trials of Hiram And Hermione — Caught between Hiram and Hermione’s double trial, Veronica grapples with what the future holds for her family. Archie finds himself the unexpected target of the town’s local businesses. Betty and Kevin join the Junior FBI Training Program, and Jughead learns some surprising information about his family history.

Theories- This episode is where we meet Mr. DuPont and where I think more Jughead storyline stuff unfolds as we find out about the Baxter Brothers company and its ties to Stonewall Prep. Jughead finds out more about his grandfather and his ties with Stonewall Prep as he was in the same writing class as Mr. DuPont. This could be where plans were first discussed or even carried out however I feel like this just created some plot holes and not much in the way of a theory but it does helps provide answers towards a theory for episode 6 as well as introducing us to an important character in Mr. DuPont who is crucial later on down the line.

Review- I was on the fence about this episode, I thought the storyline was good and it was a fitting ending to the Hiram and Hermione trials, but it was not groundbreaking in my opinion. It was in my top 5 episodes for season 4-part A but overall not groundbreaking. For reference, my favorite episodes for season 4-part A are episodes 7, 2, 8, 5 and 4.

Rating (out of 5)- 3/5

Season 4 Episode 6 Hereditary

Synopsis- Unexpected Visitors- As Archie struggles to keep the neighborhood kids away from Dodger’s influence, he turns to an unexpected ally for help. Jughead uncovers a mystery surrounding the author of the Baxter Brothers books, while Betty confronts Charles about his past. Finally, Veronica deals with a major shake-up at home, and Cheryl and Toni get some unexpected visitors at Thistlehouse

Theories- I think this is where major developments happen as Jughead gets close to a secret I think somewhat still exists relating to the Baxter Brothers authorship I will pick up more on this thought when discussing episode 9. He believes that his grandfather was the original ghostwriter for the Baxter Brothers and that Mr. DuPont stole the franchise from him. Also, a huge plot twist happens here spoiler alert Mr. Chipping commits suicide by jumping from a window, as this happens Jughead screams for one of the preppies to call for an ambulance but they just sit and stare this leads me to believe that they are behind Mr. Chippings suicide this I think could be linked to three ideas as stated below
1.     Something he confessed in a Quill and Skull society meeting
2.     Mr. Chipping got to close to the truth about Jughead’s grandfather and the Baxter Brothers Authorship
3.     He was a victim of one of Bret’s sex tapes

I think the third option is the most likely as theories I have seen and somewhat agree with are that he was caught or tapped having sex with Moose. Look at episodes from previous seasons for more on Moose Mason but for reference he is bisexual.  Also for reference, Mr. DuPont is now the teacher of the writing class at Stonewall Prep.

I would also like to shed some light on Charles and how I at the episode thought he fitted into this whole Jughead storyline, it was shown during this episode that FP and Charles had to move the body of the shady man ( for those who are unaware the shady man was a man that Chic killed in season 2 episode 16 and also for that are unaware Chic was a man pretending to be Charles) now if I remember rightly FP covered the shady man’s dead body with a liquid and said there will be nothing left not even his teeth so how did the body survive that length of time? I can’t fully remember if FP said anything about how long it would take for the body to rot away but you would think that there would be no trace left of the body? More importantly, Charles is in a relationship with Chic how do we know this well towards the end of the episode Charles visits Chic in prison and says I love you and puts his hand on the class and Chic does the same. There was something said about a potential lie said to Betty now I think that FP knows something about the shady man’s body that everyone else is unaware of and this could be written within his note from the Carrie musical episode unlikely methinks but it is Riverdale after all. I didn’t think Penelope Blossom (Cheryl’s mum) was behind the Griffins and Gargoyles nonsense so who knows what these parents have to hide. How does this Charles stuff fit in with the Jughead storyline well I think Charles told someone at Stonewall Prep or even at the Baxter Brothers about Jughead’s ties to the black hood this links to season 4 episode 11 so more on that later.

I would also like to shed light on the videotapes these began to pop up in episode 4 now I think Charles is behind them and with his character development in this episode it would seem likely due to his ties to Chic and he probably has the equipment to carry out such a widespread thing. Also, my last thought on this character, episode and Jughead storyline it links back to episode 4 (my theory of it all starting in episode 4 doesn’t seem so far-fetched no more now does it?)  and Charles must have something to do with Jughead being missing as he was listening into Betty and Jughead’s phone call relating to Jughead being put in a coffin now if my theory on the Jughead and Souphead switch is to be believed then Charles found out about Souphead and that would suggest that it is Charles who is behind all of this nonsense from Jughead’s storyline and the videotapes (perhaps revenge for putting Chic in prison maybe or am I scraping the barrel). On a lighter theory maybe, Charles listened to the phone call and is helping Jughead bring this Stonewall Prep stuff to ahead.

Review- I was not overly amazed by this episode however in terms of Bughead content we were severed a decent amount so I can’t complain. I thought this was a good development for Cheryl’s storyline. I am also a huge fan of the Archie FP partnership and this episode did not disappoint. We know that both Marisol Nichols and Skeet Ulrich are leaving Riverdale so it will be interesting to see how they write out both Hermione Lodge and FP Jones or if they will be like Reggie Mantle who was after season 1 was recast.

Season 4 Episode 7 The Ice Storm

Synopsis- Thanksgiving in Riverdale- Archie’s plan to host a peaceful Thanksgiving dinner at the community centre quickly gets derailed when some unexpected guests arrive. Stranded at Stonewall Prep by an ice storm, Jughead and Betty search for clues about a recent death on campus. Elsewhere, FP, Alice, Hiram and Hermione wait out the storm together at Pop’s Cheryl and Toni get resourceful as they host a dinner for Cheryl’s family.

Theories-. I think all of the goings-on links back to Mr. Chippings suicide in some way as Jughead and Betty in this episode investigates more into this and I think that the only way the preppies can get rid of any evidence is by getting rid of the two people who were investigating the suicide at the time this would mean getting Betty arrested for murdering Jughead which she didn’t do spoiler alert and killing or kidnapping Jughead or making him go missing in some way. This episode saw the beginning of the sex tape stuff which they teased and then bought back to life later on so that will be discussed perhaps during episode 12 or 13. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Dupont is bought in to replace Mr. Chipping coincidence I think not. If Mr. Dupont is responsible for the going’s on with Jughead which is very likely then he will not want another teacher coming in now, would he? I think this stems back to the Baxter Brothers authorship in some way as Jughead was getting to close to the truth in episode 6 so would need the only person who has worked for the Baxter brothers to our knowledge to die thus bringing in the sex tapes that could have been used to threaten Mr. Chippings job thus him committing suicide to stop it going any further. Also, this episode is where he Quill, and Skull society gets unveiled through a tie pin that all members have and more on this society later as episode 9 and 10 perfectly explain this society more. Lastly, Donna’s lie (spoiler alert) about her having an affair with Mr. Chipping was revealed. Episode 12 is a big winner in this department.

Review- I thought this was the best episode of season 4-part A for several reasons firstly it was the first thanksgiving themed episode, I really enjoyed the Archie storyline as Mary gave the viewers some fierce queen realness. Most importantly us Bughead stans were fed big time some of the best Bughead scenes and content we have had this season and so far, I reckon.

Season 4 Episode 8 In Treatment

Synopsis- Gina Torres Guest Stars as Riverdale High’s Guidance Counsellor- As residents across Riverdale begin receiving more mysterious videotapes on their doorsteps, the seniors of Riverdale High eagerly await their college decision letters. Concerned that the stress may be getting to them, Mrs. Burble the school's guidance counselor, meets with Betty, Archie, Veronica, Cheryl, and Jughead to discuss what's plaguing them.

Theories- I personally think this episode is stand-alone so there are no theories linked with this episode. You could make some theories or links to what Jughead claimed the preppies were like but very and highly unlikely. There was a small Bughead scene at the end where Jughead showed Betty some articles relating to the Quill and Skull society members of days past have died and the only two still alive being Mr. DuPont and his grandfather. This could be key later on however not worth their own theory.

Review- This episode was much needed like you have no idea how badly these students and even Betty’s mother needed therapy. I really like that they used this type of episode to bring a near end to Cheryl’s storyline as that is a suitable way of dealing with it. I loved the Jughead and FP scene in this episode and my personal favorite therapy session was Betty and Alice as it was funny yet provided a lot of fierce realness from Betty. I can’t say enough good things about this episode.

Season 4 Episode 9 Tangerine

Synopsis- The Search For Forsythe Pendleton Jones I- After declaring war on Hiram, Veronica enlists a secret weapon against her father – her Abuelita. Archie and FP team up to take Dodger down for good, while Betty and Charles investigate a series of strange attacks aimed at Betty. Elsewhere, Jughead’s Forsythe Pendleton Jones I leads to more questions than answers, while Cheryl finally makes peace with the past that’s been haunting her.

Theories- This episode is a theory creators heaven at least it was for me anyway now we know the flash-forward for this episode was not true and proven so in episode 14. Now that that the flash-forward has been dealt with let’s shed light on the episode itself firstly with the first look at Forsythe the first (Jughead’s grandfather) and he reveals that the first Baxter Brothers book was written by him however he sold the book to Mr. Dupont now could what Jughead has and is currently going through be exactly what his grandfather went through when he was at Stonewall Prep. This needs to be sited to episode 12 (I know I am jumping from different episodes within my theories but bear with me as it will all make sense hopefully). Episode 12 included a duel between Bret and Jughead now hear me out did Mr. DuPont and Forsythe the first duel back in the day for the first Baxter Brothers book (far-fetched perhaps maybe)

Review- I was not a fan of this episode the same way I wasn’t a fan of episode 3 it did provide plot holes and tied loose ends, but I just wasn’t a fan. I did like the fact that we finally saw Forsythe the first and that the Jughead part A storyline was put to rest or was it. Jughead joined the Quill and Skull society something I kinda expected but was not a huge fan of but it was nice to see Jughead in his serpents jackets once again as they have been put by the waist side this season which is odd seeing the amount of development this gang got in both season’s 2 and 3. Lastly Alice with the knife OMG my heart but it was the stupid idiot girl Evelyn from The Farm like go away we locked you up and got rid of your people in episode 3. For reference, the trigger word was tangerine repeated 3 times this makes someone attack Betty or Dark Betty. Reference season 1 and 2 for dark Betty more specifically season 1 episode 3 and season 2 episode 17. Also, Bughead content was nowhere to be seen sorry not a fan.

Rating (out of 5)- 2/5

Season 4 Episode 10 Varsity Blues

Synopsis- Spirit Week- As Riverdale High prepares for the championship football game against Stonewall Prep, Betty gets to work on a story about the rivalry between the schools. Archie is conflicted when Mary tells him about Uncle Frank’s troubled past. Cheryl goes head to head with Ms. Appleyard he school's new cheerleading coach, and Veronica hits a roadblock with her latest Luna Rum recipe. Jughead is forced to pick a side after the perks of attending Stonewall Prep begin to interfere with his personal life.

Theories- This got season 4 part b theories off to a great start I’m telling you. Firstly the theory all centers around Betty’s article she is writing for the Blue and Gold (school newspaper) about the state championship final Riverdale Bulldogs Vs Stonewall Prep Stallons. Now it was discovered in this episode that Stonewall plays dirty more specifically the football team but I can’t see this transferring to other elements of the school perhaps maybe the behavior of Bret might be the only link that can be made here. The major overall link from this episode is the scene with Jughead and Mr. DuPont as he wanted Jughead to discourage Betty from writing the article that could damage Stonewall Prep’s reputation (sounds fishy no?). To me, is sounds like it would expose a secret of some kind. Also, I would like to shed light on the Quill and Skull meeting between the preppies and Jughead now if scenes in later episodes are to be believed then what the preppies said were lies however I think the confession Jughead came up with was a lie, this thought has come from the assumption that Jughead moved on to the school closet after the drive-in was shut down but then again there was no time frame or stamp on the confession so this could have prompted him to move into the drive-in who knows?

Review- I really liked this episode and it was a fitting end to the school football and cheerleading team. Also, can we talk about how great the cover of Cherry Bomb was my personal favorite song this season so far (hold on tight we still the musical episode to come. For those wondering it is going to take place in episode 17 so I am expecting great things if Heathers is anything to go by). I think this episode really got the mystery of jughead off to a great start as I was personally stating to give up hope on season 4 towards the end of part A.

Season 4 Episode 11 Quiz Show

Synopsis- Riverdale High Vs Stonewall Prep- Determined to give Frank a second chance, Archie gives him a job at Andrews Construction. Betty channels her energy into taking Bret down and defeating Stonewall Prep at the Quiz Show Championship, while Veronica and  Cheryl team up for an unlikely business venture. Finally, Kevin’s date with a new suitor takes a strange and unexpected turn.

Theories- This episode posed some rather interesting thoughts in relation to Jughead’s hail Mary with the Baxter Brotherhood, as yes they would obviously ask to read the book before it comes out but it almost seemed like Mr. DuPont wanted Jughead to use the black hood as his story not Jason Blossoms murder (Jason is Cheryl’s brother for those unware). It seems like what Jughead thought happened to his grandfather is happening to him or it happened
to his grandfather and is now happening to him as in an later episode you seen a copy of Jughead’s original story about Jason Blossom’s murder The Boy in The River maybe Mr. DuPont was going to steal it who knows I’m guessing it could be discovered in later episodes however from what I’ve seen through cast members social media we have after episode 16 episode 17 is the musical episode, episode 18 is the flashback episode and episode 19 is about Mr. Honey so episode 20 maybe?.

Review- What an episode it was my favorite episode so far of the season and by far the best episode of part b. The Bughead content was everything us Bughead stans needed and more the bed scene was everything (we stan a supportive Bughead). I was, however, a bit pissed about what happened with the cheating allegations yes it was Bret being an idiot but partly Alice was the blame here. All in all a great episode as it feed us all of the Bughead content.

Season 4 Episode 12 Men Of Honour

Synopsis- Lucy Hale Guest Stars As Katy Keene- Archie rows concerned for Frank after someone from his past arrives in Riverdale Betty and Alice’s investigation into incidents at Stonewall Prep leads them on a collision course with their number one suspect. Jughead challenges Bret to a duel to settle their grievances, while Toni, Kevin, and Fangs seek revenge against Nick St Clair ho has shown up unexpectedly in Riverdale. Finally, a trip to New York City gives Veronica an opportunity to catch up with her old friend Katy Keene.

Theories- This episode however bad I thought it was had great theory potential as well a lot of interesting facts and discoveries were made in the episode firstly the sex tapes (yep there back folks those bloody sex tapes). In relation to the sex tapes, it was revealed that Moose was a victim of these sex tapes along with Bughead (please stop hurting Bughead they have been through enough already now you have to tape them getting their rocks off seriously). I don’t recall Moose telling Alice or Betty about who he was tapped with (why would he?), I recon it wasn’t with Donna like episode 3 would have had us link this finding to but Mr. Chipping again as I mentioned before Moose is bisexual so this could make sense. Now Brett seemed to be very protective of the videotapes (yes videotapes see the link here to another storyline now I have other possible suspects to be discussed later on). I think based on findings within this episode Bret is the person behind the video tapes of people’s houses now it does seem a little strange as we know the tapes in the secret hole within the Quill and Skull society room were sex tapes and confessional tapes, there is a small possibility that some of the tapes are of people’s houses but I think my second suspect is a more likely culprit here. I will digress slightly from episode 12 to talk about my second video tape suspect Mr. Honey, here me out nobody likes him, he’s an arse that’s already established but there are reasons why I think Mr. Honey is behind the video tapes stated below

1.     How else would the correct tape end up at the correct house, he will have access to students addresses so will know how to get to the house to film it along with placing it on the doorstep

2.     Episode 3 is a good example to support my theory here as Reggie and Kevin trashed Mr. Honey’s office or somewhere within the school but Mr. Honey was present during both events but how would he have known I highly doubt one of their friends would snitch on them so the only way he could know of these goings-on would be if he were to see both Reggie and Kevin leave their house on a video camera.

3.     Another example to support my theory is from episode 2 as Cheryl’s party was shut down yes she handed out flyers at school and was feuding with him at the time but he reported a noise complaint and all of the residents in that area according to Cheryl are dead or death meaning he was watching the party it is a bit of a barrel scrapper but an example non the less.

Ok enough digressing back to episode 12, it was discovered that Betty amongst all the nonsense managed to take a tape it was of Donna making a confession however this confession when it was played was the same story about Mr. Chipping and the affair she “had” with him which was discovered in episode 7 and this story was exactly the same but with a different person’s name meaning that the story was fake supporting the theory that the preppies were behind Mr. Chippings suicide. This also supports the theory that the confessionals made by the preppies in the Quill and Skull society meetings are made up. This would also suggest and somewhat confirm that Donna is behind the going’s on at Stonewall Prep and not Bret, I still think that Bret is the evil sidekick, but I shouldn’t digress.

Review- I really disliked this episode, I watched it looking forward to the Jughead and Bret duel but was left underwhelmed by the whole affair and once the episode was over, I thought I just wasted my time watching that. However, on a slightly positive note, I did enjoy the scenes with Veronica and Katy Keene, and it was a nice introduction to the newest Archie Comics show Katy Keene.

Season 4 Episode 13 The Ides of March

Synopsis- A Look into The Future- Worried about what the future may hold for him after high school, seeks advice from an unlikely source Hiram Lodge. Veronica begins to spiral after learning some devastating news about someone close to her. Finally, accusations made against Jughead eaves his future at Stonewall Prep hanging in the balance.

Theories- this episode bought together with the flash-forward seen in episode 9 where Betty was stood over Jughead with a rock covered in blood and Archie checking Jughead’s pulse to later reveal that he is “dead”. I do not think he is dead and if you look at the episode 16 synopsis and seen cast members on Instagram stories you will know he is filming so Jughead is alive and well assuming the Souphead theory is not true. I reckon that Bughead have planned the perfect murder and Varchie are in on it makes sense if you see the reaction to the coffin in the episode 15 promo, if he was dead I would be expecting a reaction similar to the episode where Bughead break up outside the White Wyrm in season 2, the moment I am referencing is the moment where betty is crying in the seat my her window in her bedroom. I recon this is where the “perfect murder” begins to take place.

Review- I was on the fence about this episode I thought it was very intense and the Bughead moments were very good and provided us Bughead stans the feeding we needed but I couldn’t care for this episode I liked seeing Jughead in his serpent jacket but besides the Bughead content I was left again underwhelmed I hope future episodes pick up a bit we have a musical and flashback episode to come so most likely.

Season 4 Episode 14 How to Get Away With Murder

Synopsis- The Aftermath- When a night in the woods goes horribly awry, Betty, Archie, and Veronica are forced to confront what one of them may be capable of.

Theories- This episode was a strange one due to the emotions displayed by the core 3 (Betty, Archie, and Veronica) they seemed somewhat sad for the "death" of Jughead but part of me thinks it’s all an act but another part of me thinks they are not in on Jughead's plan. I think several people could be in on his plan and below I will explain who and why:

1. Charles, now I know episode 6 would have us believe otherwise but the way Charles helped Betty seems like he knows more than he's leading on. He did, however, help the core 3 discover that Betty was not hypnotized by Donna however she blacked out due to a drug called devils breath that Donna blew in Betty's face.

2. Forsythe The First, he did disappear in episode 9 and based on what we have been told about him from FP would suggest that he had run away. I think this is still true but Jughead has kept his assuming new address and is hiding out with him wherever he is. I think Forsythe The First was spotted on Skeet Ulrich's (FP Jones) Instagram stories in Stonewall Prep, don't hold me to it though it could just have been another serpent.

3. Gladys Jones (Jughead's Mum) here me out I know this seems a little far-fetched but let me explain, she did leave in I think it was episode 18 of season 3 (it was called Fear The Reaper if that helps). She said she was leaving until FP cools down a bit. I am assuming she went back to Toledo so could Jughead have gone to hide out in Toledo or wherever his mum is. She is a serpent after all and serpent law states that no serpent should be left behind and this includes serpent protection.

4. The Southside Serpents I could say more specifically Sweet Pea (where did he go by the way?) but I think it's just the Southside Serpents as a whole. We know that Jughead was the leader of the Serpents from the season 2 finale and throughout season 3 but leadership power seems to have shifted back to FP so does this mean FP is in on Jughead's plan, no I think it's the younger Serpents e.g. Fangs. Alternatively, Jughead could have done what some of the Serpents did after the riots in season 2 episode 21 and go under the woodwork as FP phrased it.

I think Jughead's plan links to the back end of season 2 not so much FP's letter/note but the scene of Betty, Veronica, and Archie outside Jughead's grave. At the time this was Jughead's dream but now I think it is a flash forward. I would like to shed some light on the fact that Jughead was narrating he own death like if that does not scream I'm alive I have no idea what does, this leads on to a theory I saw online towards the start on season 4 (I think it was around episodes 5 or 6) that we are seeing Jugheads's perfect murder novel being acted out at the time this theory came about it was suggested that it was Jughead's Baxter Brothers novel and I still believe this is the case but I think it is the novel he began writing at the start of episode 13. This leads me to think that Jughead has taken the job role of the next Baxter Brothers ghost writer literally and has actually gone into hiding in a locked room (* cough* *cough* episode 16) To finish he novel as a ghost writer and that we are seeing it being acted out and the core 3 are in on it and are bringing the events to life in front of Bret, Donna, and the other preppies.

Review- Again like episode 12 I couldn’t care for this episode part of me was really just watching this episode due to the cliffhanger at the end of the previous episode. I did think the overall episode was ok and the acting of the core 3 (Betty, Veronica, and Archie)  throughout this episode was outstanding.
